Aquatic Laboratories:

  • 2 x 25meter heated swimming pools.
  • One open air 25 meter x 6 lane with 2 below and above water, viewing and filming windows.
  • The other a totally coverded 25 meter x 5 lane .
  • Sample of teaching and research equipment
  • Waterproof split plate force plate. (can be mounted on pool wall or starting block)
  • Variable speed and depth under water equipment for measuring drag co-efficient.
  • Under water camera housings.


Biomechanics Laboratories:

  • Laboratory 1: Sports Motion Analysis Laboratory
    • 385 square meters with high roof, mobile gantry & large opening door to grassed 125 x 95 meter oval,
    • Vicon MX 3D motion analysis system with 12 Vicon 1000Hz near-infrared M2 camera's,
    • 2 in-floor force plates (1 AMTI and 1 Kistler),
    • 10 channel umbilical cord EMG system,
    • Biodex Isokinetic Dynamometer.

  • Laboratory 2: Clinical Motion Analysis Laboratory
    • 170 square meters,
    • Vicon MX 3D motion analysis system with 7 Vicon 1000Hz near-infrared MX camera's,
    • 2 in-floor force plates (AMTI),
    • 16 channel umbilical cord EMG system,
    • Biodex Isokinetic Dynamometer.

  • Biomechanics computing:
    • High speed workstations with automatic data backup
    • Software including: SiliconCoach, SIMM Musculoskeletal Modeling, SDFast Dynamical Mechanical Systems Modeling, Vicon Bodybuilder, Vicon Polygon, MatLab, Labview, MS Visual C++, MS Fortran 90, and 3D MRI/CT Scan Analysis software.

  • Other research and teaching equipment.
    • Peak Motus motion analysis system with 2 Peak 200hz video cameras.
    • 2 Real-time ultrasound imaging for muscle morphometry and analysis.
    • 20 channel electromyography (EMG) Grass amplifiers.

    • Servo Motor controlled joint position and joint movement assessment system

  • Laboratory 2, 235 square meters, Adjoining a grassed outdoor laboratory (Oval 125 X 95 meters)

    • Thermoregulation Climate Chamber 5 to 45 degree to 75% humidity.
    • Muscle temperature system ( temperature measured with probes or ingested pills)
    • Motorised tread mills.
    • Computerised Metabolic carts.

    • Computerised cycle ergometers ( for sprint and endurance study)
