Biography:

Dr Sandy Gordon joined the School in 1987. His educational qualifications include a DipPhysEd (1972) from Jordanhill College in Glasgow, DipEd (1976) and MEd (1979) from the University of Aberdeen, and MA (1981) and PhD (1986) in Physical Education (specializing in Sport Psychology) from the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He is a Fellow member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS), Member of the APS College of Sport Psychologists and Interest Group in Coaching Psychology and is a Registered Sport Psychologist (WA)

Dr Gordon has over 70 articles published in either refereed or professional journals or as chapters in several books. He acts as reviewer for various academic periodicals including The Australian Journal of Science and Medicine in Sport, Journal of Applied Sport Psychology, Journal of Sport and Exercise Psychology, Psychology of Sport and Exercise, and The Sport Psychologist.

Dr. Gordon's general research interests are in applied sport psychology and coaching psychology. His current specific research interests include mental toughness and resilience training and development, emotional labour, and managing talent.
