Biography:

Kerry Smith has a background in nursing and teaching and came to the department initially to coordinate the Unigym Program, a role she still undertakes. Kerry is also Course Controller of HM 390 Professional Practice, which encompasses career education and worksite practicum experiences for final year students. As Director of the Worksite Practicum Program, she organises approximately 320 placements in industry each year for undergraduate and post graduate students. Additional roles, including those of Operations Director of the Functional Rehabilitation Program and Director of Marketing and Alumni Services, have been undertaken over the past 18 months. A result has been a large alumni function and the publishing of the first edition of Home Base, the alumni newsletter of which she is editor.

Kerry has had a long involvement in sport and recreation for people with a disability and is a board member of community, state, national and international organisations in the area. These include the Superfins, the WA Disabled Sports Association (WADSA), the Australian Paralympic Committee (WA), the Cerebral Palsy Australian Sport and Recreation Federation and the Australian Organisation for Sport for the Disabled.
