The Graduate Certificates are based on a 6 month program. Masters Preliminary can be either one semester, or two semesters of study. In instances where a Preliminary is augmented by additional undergraduate work, a further period of full-time study may be required. An extension of enrolment will only be considered in exceptional circumstances and application should be made in writing to the Head of School giving reasons for the request. The standard time for a Master´s degree course is one year of full-time study or two years part-time study. Candidates completing a Masters degree by research thesis may, however, require more than one year of full-time study depending on the nature and progress of the research. Candidates completing a Masters by research degree are permitted a maximum of two years full-time, or four years part-time study, in which to complete a Masters research degree. This rule will be waived only under extenuating circumstances and only on the approval of the Head of School. Students enrolled in a PhD have a period of three and a half years to complete research and submit a thesis. However, extensions to candidature can be negotiated subject to the approval of the Supervisor, Head of School and Graduate Research and Scholarships Office. GENERAL STUDY AND RESEARCH DIRECTIONS:
