Bachelor Of Excercise Rehabilitaion Science


Students are permitted to graduate with a BSc (Exercise and Health Science) Degree and then enter a fourth year to complete the Bachelor of Exercise Rehabilitation Science Degree in which they may also graduate.

Prerequisite: BSc (Exercise and Health Science) plus 60% GPA at Level 3 and the following units at Level 3; HMES3301, HMES3389 and both HMES3390 / HMES3391.

The course consists of 8 x 6 point units to the value of 48 points.

CORE UNITS

Units to a minimum value of 30 points and maximum value of 36 points may be chosen from the following CORE units:

HMES7643 Cardiac Rehabilitation
HMES7646 Exercise Rehabilitation for Chronic & Complex Conditions
HMES7651 Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation
HMES7664 Exercise and Health Psychology
HMES7691 Research Practicum I *
HMES7692 Research Practicum II *
*   These units are required for specialist accreditation with AAESS


ELECTIVE UNITS

Minimum value of 12 points and a maximum value of 18 points chosen from:

HMES7602 Research Methods in HMES
HMES7634 Advanced Neuromuscular Biomechanics
HMES7645 Workplace Injury Prevention and Management
HMES7654 Advanced Concepts in Motor Control and Learning
HMES7685 Worksite Health Promotion

The Head of School can recommend that a student substitute one unit required above for one other relevant unit offered in the University or in any comparable course in another recognised institution to the value of 6 points.

NOTE: Students who have not completed a BSc (Exercise and Health Science) at UWA can apply through TISC for entry into the Bachelor of Exercise Rehabilitation Science.
