Reports

We aim to influence health promotion policy and practice and build the capacity of Healthway and its Western Australian constituency through the discovery and communication of knowledge.

The Health Promotion Evaluation Unit (HPEU) was established in 1996. It replaced the Health Promotion Development and Evaluation Program (HPDEP), established in 1992 as a joint independent academic program of the Department of Public Health and the Graduate School of Management at The University of Western Australia. Between 1996 and 2008 HPEU operated under the auspice of the School of Population Health at UWA. HPEU currently operates within the School of Sport Science Exercise and Health at UWA.

Consultancy services

The consultancy services provided by HPEU aim to build the capacity of organisations to undertake appropriate evaluation, while at the same time ensuring the delivery of a high quality product during the learning process. The services aim to develop skills in project planning, implementation, evaluation and dissemination of findings; to foster collaborative partnerships with Healthway and its constituency and, where appropriate, to maximise multi-disciplinary input.

Under the overall leadership of the Director, A/Prof Michael Rosenberg, the long term goals of HPEU’s consulting service activities are to build the capacity of health promotion organisations in Western Australia, to increase the quality of applications received by Healthway, to increase the quality of implementation and evaluation of Healthway funded projects and to ensure the active dissemination of results.
